• Coffee run turns into rescue mission for Weymouth couple

WEYMOUTH, Mass. - A couple headed to Dunkin’ Donuts for a morning coffee ended up being carried out of icy waters by rescuers early New Year’s Day.

The man in his 60s told rescuers his Jeep started sliding and just wouldn’t stop. That’s how it ended up wheels deep in Kings Cove.

He didn’t have his phone so he couldn’t call for help and had to climb onto the roof and signal for help.

Firefighters pulled him out of the car when they got there and carried him to shore with his girlfriend.

The owners say they’re upset about the loss of the car because they lost everything else in a house fire in August. They’ve been living in a camper in their yard and now don’t have a car.
